Explore Fields Market Garden.

  • Headhouse

Construction began in October 2024, and work is still ongoing to complete the building. The front room functions as a workspace where volunteers and garden staff can wash and store freshly harvested vegetables and flowers, stay organized and cool, and meet with the farm manager for training and guidance. The back of the building includes a restroom for visitors and a garage area for storing garden tools, equipment, and other supplies.

  • Greenhouse

This structure was build by dedicated volunteers in October of 2024. It was funded through a crowd fundraiser via Patronicity’s CreatINg Place program, matched by a grant from Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA), and an additional grant from Merchant’s Foundation. We start all of our vegetable, flower and herbs from seed in the space before they get planted outdoors. The greenhouse also allows us to extend our work opportunities for North End residents into the winter months. Aside from its functional use, the greenhouse is also a space to host, events, educational field trips and workshops, and inspire our visitors.

  • High Tunnel

Constructed in June of 2024 by volunteers, this structure was funded by the EQIP grant from Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS). The high tunnel allows us to extend our growing season by a few weeks in both the spring and fall. It also serves as a strong framework for us to trellis heavy, vining plants such as tomatoes. Additionally, the high tunnel allows us to experiment with plants like eucalyptus which wouldn’t usually survive an Indiana winter, but will in our high tunnel.
